According to data compiled by the Development Department of the Liep\u0101ja City Municipality Central Administration, production volumes increased by EUR 82.4 million, or 17.2%, compared to 2024. Over the same period, the average industrial growth rate in Latvia was 6.6%.<\/span><\/p>\n

The total value of industrial goods sold reached EUR 577.9 million in 2025, marking an increase of EUR 82.1 million, or 16.6%, compared to the previous year. Liep\u0101ja accounted for 5.1% of Latvia\u2019s total industrial sales volume.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exports continued to play a dominant role in the city\u2019s manufacturing sector. In 2025, exported goods made up 76% of total industrial sales, reaching EUR 438.7 million<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>an increase of 14.9% compared to 2024. At the same time, sales on the domestic market rose by 22% to EUR 139.2 million, reflecting the continued steady growth of local demand in recent years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>I genuinely take pride in how strongly Liep\u0101ja\u2019s industrial sector is growing. Every new factory line, every new job, every new entrepreneur choosing to build their future here<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>it all matters. And at the municipal level, we\u2019re not watching this from the sidelines. We\u2019re investing in the infrastructure businesses need, and we\u2019re working hard to expand housing so that people who want to come and work in Liep\u0101ja can actually settle here with good living conditions.<\/span> I believe we can achieve far more if we keep moving forward together,\u201d said Gun\u0101rs Ansi\u0146\u0161, Chair of the Liep\u0101ja City Council<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

When compared with industrial performance indicators across Latvia\u2019s seven largest cities, Liep\u0101ja retained the second-highest manufacturing output and sales volumes after R\u012bga. Manufacturing growth was recorded in four cities overall, with the sharpest percentage increases seen in R\u0113zekne and Liep\u0101ja. In R\u0113zekne, industrial output grew by 22.2% and sales volumes by 22.9%, while Liep\u0101ja recorded increases of 17.2% and 16.6% respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, industrial volumes declined in three cities, with the steepest decreases recorded in J\u016brmala and Ventspils. In J\u016brmala, manufacturing output fell by 12.3% and sales by 7.8%, while Ventspils saw declines of 5.7% in output and 11.1% in sales volumes.<\/span><\/p>\n

A comparison between production volumes and employment figures in Liep\u0101ja\u2019s industrial enterprises shows that both manufacturing output and the number of jobs in the sector increased in 2025. The data indicates that the city\u2019s industrial growth is also contributing to the creation of new employment opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n
